Privacy policy
Last updated: 29 October 2026
We use your information to run your account, manage your learning requests and contact you about the help you need. Your phone number and email are kept out of learning-request listings.
Who handles your information?
LearnyGo is the tuition-request service at learnygo.com. The team operating LearnyGo is responsible for how personal information is used through this service. For privacy questions or requests, contact emeraldshaven.hq@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Your account and contact details: full name, email address, phone number with country code, country or region and time zone.
- Your learning requests: subject, level, qualification or curriculum, exam board, learning goals, lesson language, online tuition requests, and any city, budget, currency or lesson preferences you supplied in older requests, request dates and status.
- Account security information: password and recovery-code hashes, session identifiers and expiry times. We do not store your password or recovery code in readable form.
- Technical and support information: information you send when contacting us, and technical information used to deliver and protect the website, such as IP addresses, browser details and security logs. Our sign-in rate limiter uses hashed IP addresses and email addresses.
We do not ask for payment-card details to create a student account or post a request. Phone numbers are checked for formatting; they are not verified by SMS or WhatsApp.
Why we use it
We use account and request details to provide the service you ask for: creating an account, saving and managing requests, and following up about tuition. This includes contacting you by phone or email about your request. These activities rely on taking steps at your request before a contract or performing our service agreement with you.
We use security and technical information for our legitimate interests in preventing abuse, protecting accounts, investigating faults and keeping the service working. We may also process information to meet a legal obligation. Where an optional activity requires consent, we will ask separately and explain how to withdraw it.
Providing account details, including your name and a contact number, is required to create a student account. Without these details we cannot provide the account and request service. We do not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.
Who can see it?
Your contact details are held in your profile, rather than included in learning-request listings. Authorised LearnyGo team members may access them to manage the service and follow up with you. Keep phone numbers, emails, exact home addresses and sensitive personal information out of your request message.
Learning requirements are intended to help tutors understand the tuition you need. Treat the content of a learning request as information that may be shared with prospective tutors. This does not give tutors automatic access to your private phone number or email. Trial requests to example profiles are handled privately by LearnyGo administrators during testing. If you send a free trial request to a registered tutor, your name, email and phone number are shared privately with the account linked to that tutor profile so they can contact you. We save the selected time preference, request date, status and whether the notification has been read. Trial requests remain visible in your profile and the tutor’s private inbox while needed to handle the enquiry.
Infrastructure providers supporting the website can process information needed to host, store, deliver and secure it. LearnyGo currently uses OpenAI Sites hosting and Cloudflare infrastructure. We may disclose information where required by law or necessary to investigate misuse or protect people’s rights. We do not sell your personal information.
Tutor applications
If you register as a tutor, we save your draft, teaching subjects, lesson prices, introduction, qualifications, optional profile image and review status. Authorised staff review applications. Approved profile information and your chosen image are public; your account email and phone remain private. Later changes are reviewed before publication. Drafts are also saved on your device so you can continue editing. Qualifications are self-reported unless separately verified. Application decisions and feedback are retained for administration and security. You can contact us to request removal.
Google sign-in
If you choose Google sign-in, Google will authenticate your account and share the account identifier, email and available profile name needed for sign-in. LearnyGo will not receive your Google password. Google sign-in will not give us access to your Gmail messages, contacts or a verified phone number. We will still ask for your contact number separately. Google’s own handling of your information is described in its privacy policy.
Cookies and security
We use an essential sign-in cookie to keep you logged in. The LearnyGo session expires after seven days unless renewed, and logging out removes the browser cookie. Security controls include HTTPS, password hashing and limits on account attempts. These reduce risk but cannot guarantee absolute security.
We have not added advertising or optional analytics trackers to the application. Hosting providers may use technical information and essential security mechanisms to operate their infrastructure.
Where information is processed
Our infrastructure providers operate internationally, so information may be processed outside the UK. The location and transfer arrangements depend on the provider and service. Contact us if you need details about the arrangements and safeguards applicable to your information.
How long we keep information
We keep account and request information while it is needed to provide your account and manage your tuition enquiry. Retention depends on whether your account remains in use, whether a request or support enquiry is still being handled, and any security, dispute or legal need to retain particular records. Choosing Request deletion sends it for admin review. The post remains active and visible in your profile until an admin approves removal. Approval removes it from your profile and active request results. We retain the original request internally, together with its owner, creation time and deletion time, for security checks and investigating abuse. Moderation actions, reasons and earlier versions of edited requests are also retained for security and accountability. This retained record is not available through student request listings or editing endpoints. Retention depends on whether it is needed for a security investigation, dispute or legal obligation; it is not a promise of immediate permanent erasure. You can contact us to request erasure, which we assess separately.
You can ask us to delete your account or requests using the contact email above. When an account is deleted, its sign-in and profile details are removed, and its active requests are removed from listings. Request and moderation records are retained internally for security checks as described above; a new registration creates a separate account. We will assess the request, remove information we no longer need and explain any information that must be retained and why. Session validity is limited to seven days; rate-limit windows last 15 minutes. Expiry makes these records unusable for their original purpose, but does not necessarily erase the stored record immediately.
Your choices and rights
You can update your name and phone number using “Edit contact details” in your dashboard. You may also request access to your information, correction, deletion, restriction or a portable copy, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. These rights depend on the circumstances and the lawful basis. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Email emeraldshaven.hq@gmail.com to make a request. We may need proportionate information to confirm that the account is yours. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Requests involving children
If you are arranging tuition for a child, use the parent or guardian’s contact details. Share only the learning information needed for the enquiry; do not put a child’s personal contact details, exact address or sensitive records in a request message.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the service or its use of information changes, and give additional notice where a material change requires it. The date above identifies this version.
